Cinco de Mayo Performance May 2nd
This month your children have been learning all about Cinco de Mayo in their Spanish classes. Even though it is a few days early, all the grades will be performing some of the songs and games they have learned at an assembly on May 2nd at 1:30pm. Parents are welcome to attend but space is limited.

Kindergarten Registration Day - Kinder Roundup - May 6, 2008
On this day you and your child will come to Gullett and register for
Kindergarten. Children must be 5 by September 1st to enroll in kindergarten. While parents are filling out paper work the children can go and visit one of the kindergarten classrooms.
Parents please bring with you your child's birth certificate, immunization records, social security card and or number, proof of residence (electric bill), and a driver's license of the person registering your child. Registration starts at 8:30am and lasts about an hour and a half. You might also want to bring a checkbook to order school supplies for you Kindergarten student.

Interested in Visiting Gullett Elementary
Each Spring we offer tours for families who may be interested in sending their child to Gullett in the Fall. We have organized three dates for parents to attend. The dates are: Tuesday, January 15 @ 9:00am, Thursday, February 7 @ 9:00am, and Friday, February 29 @ 8:00am. There is no need to sign up. You can just come to the office on the date of the tour and sign in as a visitor. Anyone that wants their child to attend Gullett for the 2008-2009 school and you do not live within the Gullett boundries, must request a transfer. The first day to request a transfer in on February 2nd, 2008. To submit a request for a transfer you must go to the AISD central office starting the first saturday in February and fill out a transfer request form.

Hot Air Balloon Event - Oct 2nd
 Liberty Balloon Company (www.libertyballoon.com) put on a spectacular event for us. They brought their balloon, filled it up, and took Ms. Gooch and Ms. Brauss up a little bit (too windy to do much else). They then did a slide show and talk about ballooning and the science behind it - way cool! Thanks to Leslie Smith and Julie Carolan for organizing and thanks to all who contributed to the No Frills Fundraiser - here's your dollars in action! More pictures...

Gullett wins RIF contest 3rd Year in a Row
Gullett is the winner of the RIF read-a-thon trophy ... again! We raised more than $16,000 for books for children in the Austin area. To celebrate, the RIF executive director and president of the boardl presented the trophy to us at and assembly on Oct. 24. Superintendent Pat Forgoine was there. Easy Ways to Help Raise Money at Gullett
Do you buy groceries at HEB, tools at Lowes, clothes at Gap, books at Barnes and Noble? These companies have graciously offered to give us money if we buy things at their establishments. All you have to do is buy gift cards and spend them! If you spend $100 at HEB, HEB donates $3 to Gullett!

NO FRILLS FUNDRAISER This year we are working on not asking parents for money over and over. To help with this we've started the NO FRILLS FUNDRAISER. We won't ask for PTA dues, money for directories or money for Spanish. PLUS - NO GIFT WRAP SALE!!!! Instead we simply ask you to make a tax deductible donation to Gullett Elementary PTA. For more information and to donate online, visit the No Frills Fundraiser page. TEACHING GARDEN Have you seen it - between the 4th and 5th grade ramps? It's beautiful thanks to all the planting, good rain and planning! Patrick Smith did a fabulous job with his landscape design and it has paid off! We will eventually plant native crops (the kids will) in the beds and a HUGE Tepee will be installed once we get a permanent fence.
